United States Navy TA-4J trainers of Training Air Wing 1 from NAS Meridian prepare to come aboard USS Lexington CVT-16.
The distinctive orange and white TA-4J served as the advanced jet trainer for decades with the US Navy.  Seen here with hooks down are two solo Naval Aviators preparing to get carrier qualified.
The USS Lexington (CVT-16), known as "The Blue Ghost", was the longest serving Essex-class ship to serve in the United States Navy. She was commissioned in 1943 and saw extensive service through the Pacific War having received eleven battle stars.  Lexington served almost thirty years as a training carrier and now resides in Corpus Christi, Texas as a National Historic Landmark.  She is the oldest remaining fleet carrier in the world.
