F-4C Phantoms of the 8th TFW, 497th TFS operating from Ubon, Thailand observe the destruction of a ground target in North Vietnam, 1967.
The primary aircraft here was credited with the kill of one Mig-21 with an AIM-7 missile kill in January of 1967.
This aircraft would herself be destroyed while on a mission by Ground to Air SA-2 SAM missiles that exploded over her right wing on a mission in March of 1967. The crew successfully ejected from the aircraft while traveling over 250 MPH but were soon captured and held captive in Hanoi for the remainder of the war.
